Dear Parents,

Teen Light Walkathon:  The annual Teen Light Walkathon will be held on the Town Common on Saturday, June 2nd from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.  Following the walk students and families may enjoy the bounce house, refreshments, the dunk tank and other activities.  All funds raised by Teen Light will be donated to organizations that assist teens with anxiety and depression.

Grade 8 Canobie Lake Field Trip:  Homeroom teachers will be collecting money (cash or checks made payable to Marshall Simonds Middle School) beginning on Monday, June 4th for the class trip to Canobie Lake on June 13th.  The cost is $30.00 which covers the admission cost and the bus transportation. All money must be in no later than June 12th as Mr. Lusas goes to Canobie Lake that day to get the tickets so students don’t have to wait in line on the 13th.

Grade 8 Graduation:  Looking ahead to graduation on Monday June 25th.  Please be aware that students should report to their homerooms no later than 6:35pm.  The gentlemen that evening are requested to wear a shirt and tie and the young ladies should wear a family event outfit.  Any individual needing special seating arrangements, please feel free to contact our main office so we may accommodate your needs.  Graduation will begin at 7:00pm.

8th Grade Final Fling Information & Permission Slip

18 05 2018

Dear Grade Eight Parents,

It is difficult to believe that we are approaching the end of the school year. One important event for the Class of 2022 will be their graduation dance better known as the “Final Fling”.  The date of the event is June 22 at 7:30-10:00 p.m. This event is not a date event or open to outside students. This is a class social that hopefully all students will attend.

Our goal that evening is to provide happy memories of their middle school years as they make an exciting transition to high school. Also, to make it age appropriate. There are so many special events ahead for the students that this unique event should not eclipse future special moments.

Just some reminders: No Limousines should be used. The ladies should be comfortable for the evening in a summer dress, pants with a nice top or a family event outfit.  The gentlemen should also be comfortable in nice shorts, collared shirts. The students should dress with comfort in mind.

A buffet will be served all night long.  Any student with food allergies will be personally contacted to assure their safety and may select a desired food.

I assure you good conversation, dancing and food will be enjoyed by all that evening. I have spent several weeks working with Grade 8 Gym classes learning to dance, in groups and ballroom style.  Parents, your children know how to dance!

I encourage you as you drop off the children that night to come into the gym look around, take pictures.  The photos taken will be treasured for a lifetime.

Thank you for your continued support,

Noreen Abati

A Message from the MSMS PTO

16 05 2018

Thanks to all who generously donated items for Friday’s staff appreciation brunch, we couldn’t do it without you!

For those of you who weren’t able to sign up in time but want to contribute, we are also getting a small token of our appreciation for Mr. Connors and Mrs. Abati who are retiring and who generously donated so much of their time to every PTO meeting for many years. Any additional funds will be set aside for 2018 end of the year student activities and/or 2019.

You can donate via the PTO/PayPal button (top right) or send in cash/check with your student in a labeled envelope for MSMS PTO. Don’t forget, all contributions are tax-deductible too!

Thanks again!

Grade 5 Parent Orientation 5/29/2018

15 05 2018

Dear Grade 5 Parents,

Marshall Simonds Middle School has scheduled a Grade 5 Parent Orientation in the school auditorium on Tuesday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m.  Team Leader Noreen Abati and I will be present to acquaint you with programs and educational practices that exist at the middle school.

Some of the specific areas to be covered include curriculum, homework, team assignments, counselors, transportation, assessment and parent communication.  Traditionally, fifth graders come to MSMS very well prepared and make an excellent transition to their new school environment. I know you will be impressed with the personal and professional talents of our faculty.

The communication between home and school will be an important factor in your child’s success at Marshall Simonds.  I look forward to meeting you on May 29th to respond to any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Connors

Principal
